A custom steel fire pit throwing a shower of sparks into the night, a family name cut through the front panel

Made by two guys in West Palm Beach, FL

A real fire pit that packs flat

Steel panels slot together in under a minute. No tools, no hardware, nothing to lose in the grass. Then the whole portable fire pit packs flat and rides in any trunk.

How it works

Fire in three moves

No hinges, no hardware, no instruction manual you'll lose. The slots do all the work.

01 — Stack

Panels out of the trunk

The whole pit travels as one flat stack, about the thickness of a cutting board.

02 — Slot

Steel into steel

Panels alternate slots-up and slots-down, then drop together by hand at the corners. Nothing to bolt or hinge.

03 — Spark

Under a minute, door to fire

Chairs up, shoes off. The steel seasons like cast iron with every burn.

Cut clean through the steel

The fire glows through the scene all night. Mix any designs you like. Panels come in two slot patterns that lock into each other, so every order ships balanced.

Flat as a cutting board

A collapsible fire pit that actually collapses. Slides behind the cooler, under the boat seats, into the hall closet. No drum-sized crate hogging the garage.

The two of us

Hi — we're Rob & PT.

Two guys, one plasma table, a shop in West Palm Beach. We nest, cut and deburr every panel ourselves, and we answer our own email at team@packablepits.com — usually from next to the fire we're testing.

Every photo on this page is our own steel, shot on a limestone road in South Florida. No renders, no stock campfires.

Straight answers

Questions we actually get

What is it made of?

Carbon steel, A36 mild, 1/8 inch thick. Each panel is 20 by 13 inches. It is not Cor-Ten and we don't claim weathering-steel behaviour.

How long does assembly take?

Under a minute. Slot and tab, no tools, no hardware, nothing to lose in the grass.

Can I mix designs?

Yes, mix any designs you like. Panels come in two slot patterns that lock into each other, and every order ships balanced so it builds. Price breaks are on panel count, not design.

How many panels do I need?

Four makes the square pit, roughly 20 by 20 inches and 13 inches tall. Six makes the hex ring. Buy a pair on its own if you just want to swap the art on a pit you already own.

Will it rust?

Yes, and that is normal. This is carbon steel, not weathering steel and not stainless. Left outdoors it develops a rust patina. Store it dry between burns and it seasons like cast iron.

How flat does it pack?

The panels stack flat, about the thickness of a cutting board. It slides behind a cooler, under boat seats, or into a hall closet.

Do you do custom?

Yes. Send us a name, a logo or a drawing and we will quote it. There is a $125 design fee, credited toward orders of four panels or more.

Where do you ship?

Continental United States. Shipping is free on orders of four panels or more. Pairs and single swap panels carry a flat rate.
