This is a real fire pit. It gets dangerously hot and it can burn you, your property, or someone you love. Read all of this before your first fire.

Where to put it

Outdoors only. Never indoors, never in a garage, never in a tent, never on a covered porch or under any overhang.
On a non-combustible surface: bare dirt, gravel, sand, concrete, or a patio paver pad.
Never on a wood deck, dry grass, mulch, or artificial turf.
At least 10 feet of clearance from structures, fences, vehicles, and anything flammable.
Never under low tree limbs. Sparks rise.

While it's burning

Never leave a fire unattended. Not for a minute.
Keep children and pets well back and supervised at all times.
The entire pit becomes hot enough to cause severe burns instantly — every panel, every edge, every corner. Don't touch it, don't move it, don't lean on it.
Burn dry, seasoned firewood or charcoal only. Never burn trash, treated or painted lumber, plywood, or construction debris — the smoke is toxic.
Never use gasoline, lighter fluid, or any accelerant. Not to start it, and never to revive it.
Don't overfill. Keep flames within the pit.
Keep a hose, a bucket of water, sand, or a fire extinguisher within reach.
Don't burn in high wind, during a burn ban, or when conditions are dry.

Putting it out and taking it down

Let the fire burn down, then drench the ashes with water and stir until cold to the touch.
Let the steel cool fully before disassembling — that takes hours, not minutes. Steel that looks cool can still burn you badly.
Never move or dismantle the pit while it's hot or while embers remain.
Dispose of ashes only once fully cold, in a metal container.

Check your local fire ordinances, burn bans, and HOA rules before using. Requirements vary by county and municipality. That's on you.
